So a fair number of clip feed guns gunked up in the mud and rain so I wanted to get a topic going on how we can fix this and sort it for next time we have a mudball event.
- Can these guns/clips be returned to working order and how?
- Were there any clip fed guns that kept working?
- Any thoughts on how to prevent this in future?
Most of the problems I observed were magazine failure to feed, I was able to keep firing by clearing jams and banging the mag to get the ammo moving. Likely cause is the wet and dirty ammo not feeding up the magazine as smoothly. As such, the guns should mostly be fine (maybe some dirt that needs cleaning out), clips might have some dirt in them to clean out - shake or open and clean.
I'm guessing shorter magazines would feed better (lower total resistance with fewer rounds) as would magazines fed with clean, dry ammo and kept dry.
This is why I prefer my hairdryer gun. It takes a little longer to load, but it never jams, worked fine with the wet/muddy bullets and is easy to clean. If the front piece that gets loaded could come off, and work like a magazine, it would be perfect.
This stuff has solved almost all my magazine problems. Spray it on the inside tracks and the sides of the follower and let it dry. Make sure you clean everything first.
