SOO While browsing the interwebts I came across this
Smoke Bombs!
Now..... I donno how ethical these are, cause I mean come on now its technically pyrotechnics, but still should be standard CDF gear... an in my mind all I'm seeing is large field battles being faught in clouds of smoke!

I would say go with these:
sportsmoke.com
they don't look as cool, but they work GREAT! also, there cheep (10$ for small one, 20 for big) and they are "cold" smoke, so no danger of fire. I've used them in airsoft a couple of time, on a field with a strict no pyrotechnics rule to great effect. (just to clarify, they oked them before game on.)
