Ok, I confess I can be a little sappy sometimes.

I played this a long time ago and still think it's perhaps the most emotive video game theme I've heard
Admittedly, this also helped keep me sane during a 2 month period where I was unemployed, so I may be biased


Anyone play it, or have any thoughts on the music?

I love this damn game. One of my favorite games.

Both SoE and it's counterpart had some really good tunes.

I started thinking about the music some more last night and hit wikipedia . Jeremy Soule, who is apparently a really big deal in video game musical scoring today, got his first gig, fresh out of high school, doing the score for that game.

He's done the Harry Potter games, some Elder Scrolls games, and is apparently regarded enough that they do concerts of his stuff.

Michel: Secret of Evermore had no counterpart. That's a common misconception, but there is no relation whatsoever between Secret of Evermore and Secret of Mana.

Great music though, definitely.

Close enough, same Engine after all. Of course they came out around the same time as Crono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6, all solid competition for best music in a game.
