This is a separate issue from AMPs and ingested poison, but very interesting feedback. Thank you for sharing this observation!

This makes sense. I would suggest making consumables to be more inline with the AMP rules instead of a specific procedure. 1 Amp = 1 Serving

You can prepare the servings as a prepared procedure for just the cost, but the food expires or you can make it into an Amp and it is good until used.

Genius to me does not make sense for consumables...Its feels weird to just "Have the Materials on hand" to make a Pie. or Food.

OR

If you want the world to be spartan like, I would make consumables more difficult to create and in lower qty. If we really don't care about it being a Spartan world then, I would just ignore the Consumables rules and let people bring in things as long as they fit with the world. I can easily make over 100 consumables in the current rule set with little effort or IG Cost. So if you are going for Spartan world, the current set of rules is broken for that.

The reason we didn't go with "Bring all the food you want!" is the same reason ToV introduced the Tradsperson skill. People would spend a lot of OOG money to generate IG money and it upset the economic balance in a not-fun way. This is why creating things that have IG value is linked to either skills or resources.

We picked 5 as the number of servings because it seemed like an easy number to remember and meant that one use of a Cooking procedure was enough to make a 'family meal' but I think you're right in that this is perhaps too much and makes the resource cost of food trivial.

Again, thank you so much for this feedback. It is super useful to me!

I mean, we also spent way more time optimizing food production then anything else in the game...which I think says something in and of itself.

Yes but food and drink is to be enjoyed. How can you possibly weight a good mixed drink costing the same as a high end grenade?

When it's too expensive you cant sit around and enjoy having drinks at the bar. It makes no damned sense. If eating were that costly everyone would have killed and eaten each other by year 2. Food and drinks of reasonable quality have to be a minor expense and a small profit or otherwise I find no fun in having it part of any roleplay. Who the hell would have a classic drinking contest with a dozen upside down shot glasses on each side waiting for the first one to fall. Not when that could have paid for new power armor.

The scarcity economy does nothing for me any more. It's fun once in a while but I want to play poker and buy a round of drinks.

Note that does not include the super special high priced things you order just to prove you can, that is a separate trope that we still need.

I want to order a jug of Rigger's Champlain and drink myself into a coma and not have it equivalent to 10 life saving healing amps.
