Classifications: Would You Ever Play A Tav?

Opinion: The tav classification benefit is extremely underwhelming. I can't envision any character concept that would compel me to designate as tav over the other options. It's almost certain that any tav concept would perform better under dalet or aleph with one minor exception. Overload on technician/engineering and use it as a flex pool for preparing procedures. While that's a neat concept, I'm not sure it's enough to justify pigeon-holing an entire classification so strongly.

Do people agree? I feel like tavs aren't very prevalent at FI2 for similar reasons, and would love to see something more powerful take the place of this classification benefit.

I agree with you 100% Andrew, this Tav benefit is very underwhelming.

Being able to flexibly use your Engineering and Technician to Prepare effects at the bar/with a Discipline Kit while still being able to make high end items at the Autoforge seems like a pretty solid concept to me.

That being said, what would you rather see that showcases the Tav classification as flexible people not afraid to do hard work and make things work with what they’ve got when they have to? We are open to alternative suggestions.

My suggestion is take the currently proposed option and add "if you are in a situation where you would lose all your prepared procedures, you may retain X of them." (Where X is a number set for balance purposes.) I might also add a flat rate reduction in procedure preparation speed as part of their classification boost.

Retaining prepared procedures is an awesome benefit (in my opinion). Reduces the risk associated with prepared procedures, which encourages more use. There have been FI2 perks proposed with this concept and I think it is an under explored area. Giving Tavs a version of this would help drive home the 'labor class' theme - they are good at making procedures the slow and steady way.

Not losing prepared procedures sounds super cool, and *very* thematic for Tavs. My big concern over the flex pool for prepared procedures was that prepared procedures don't happen all that often (from my experience). I think this incentivizes that same kind of play (prepared science, labor-classification), and is a more attractive benefit overall?

Cool ideas!

We can fine tune with how many exactly they can hold onto.

5 sound like a reasonable number?

5 is reasonable. Any number is also probably not game breaking?

We will also be adding to Dalet:

When using this ability, you may spend an extra E/G/T or Common Resource to change the Delivery Method.

That's Hot.

Psych Dalet with a sniper rifle, I would do it.
