Acceptable Proxies For In-game Alcohol

I personally feel I have heard entirely too many stories of people vomiting from drinking vinegar as an in-game rep. I don't feel this is healthy, and that people will always understand what a bad idea it is going into it.

Are there actual guidelines on what is acceptable for this sort of thing? What do people feel is appropriate here?

I think there are a ton of relatively healthy options people could go with (like lemon, pineapple, or cranberry juice). I have not heard other people really talk about this as a problem, am I crazy here?

This is an 18+ game, meaning everyone here is an adult and can make their own informed decision about what to put in their bodies.

I trust the judgment of the players who create alcohol in game.

As one of the aforementioned vomiters, I can assure you it was more an emotional response rather than caused by the intake of anything. I mean, it didn't help, but I was also stupid and took the whole shot at once despite knowing exactly what it tastes like.

I personally would support some form of labeling so that we know that we would be putting in our bodies before we actually do it though.

If you've got a concern about contents, ask (clarify is great for resolving that question), it's rare that the person serving it wouldn't know. After that, as with consuming any unknown, sniff, sip, decide. Labeling seems unnecessarily burdensome when we have clarify.

Generally drinking some vinegar is quite healthy. Just don't Fogg it down...

Generally, from going on the many years of FI's life....

I can't think of too many instances where any home-brew drink has made anyone sick outside of drinking obscene amounts of said liquid.

Most of our beverage creators thoroughly test their offerings before handing them out too.

This thread has also inspired me to see about the return to FI of BulllShot.

As Ben has said, if you are worried about what is in a drink, just ask a Clarify. I've made a few oddball drinks as Loco Lou and I'm always ready to answer that question. If a player wants to, they can prep an ingredients list, but that isn't required.

I miss shots o' beans and Bullshot...please return!

That said, Clarify works wonders if you're not up for the surprise or are concerned about allergens, et al. Ingredient lists are great to have on hand (and much appreciated!), especially if you've got something manufactured and will be covering the labels to bring the physreps into game.
