I'm a new player trying to put together a cosutume, and I'm not sure exactly the kind of "feel" I should be going for. Would anybody mind posting a picture of their costume to help me out? Thank you!

Here are Whitney and I (not everyone looks like this, we're just a statistical cluster...).

I lack pictures, but basically my outfits are either casual:

Black leggings, an athletic skirt with pleats and ruffles, a pink collared shirt and black wellies

Or fancy:

A pink and black cocktail dress and heels

Or professional

A black suit with a blazer, pink dress shirt and skirt.

My boyfriend plays a mathematician and wears a black shirt, a pair of workboots and a pair of khaki's with mathematics written all over them.

I tried to combine scientist and survivalist by going with a scrub top, cargo pants, double grommet belt, and clunky boots.

We have a few people that look like they came out of the old west or Firefly because they come from Interm, which has a space cowboy feel.

I can't figure out how to make images really work...

My normal costume involves a dress shirt, bowtie, and a deerstalker.

You can get away with pretty much everything you think of when you think of modern or sci-fi costuming, as people here are saying.

Military wear, dress clothing (suits, etc.), cowboy, scientist, it goes on and on.

Late to the party, but costumes range from Firefly-style space-cowboy to film noir to space marine to cyber-punk. It's a really diverse community as far as character and costume inspiration comes from. My suggestion is use your better judgement and tie past-colony traits into your costuming. That aside, you're pretty golden so long as you aren't running around in jeans, a teeshirt, and sneakers.

Thank you to everybody who shared! I had great fun at the event last week, and look forward to LARPing with you all in the future. Hope my costume was up to par!
