Reload Ammo: New Rule!

ATTENTION GIMELS and everyone else who likes guns!

Reload Drum Mag skill and Procedure are gone. They are replaced with the following:

An Open Skill:
Heavy Weapons
Combat, 30 CP
Prereq: Guns 3
You can use firearms with an ammo capacity greater than 6. This includes extended clips, drum magazines, and ammo chains.
NOTE: Loading clips, drums, chains, etc does not require a skill.

A new Core Procedure:
Overcharge Weapon
Physics, Level 3
"Physics, Bestow Heavy Weapon Skill, through Firearm"
Delivery: Touch
Preparation Materials: 3 Batteries

This Procedure allows someone with the Guns 3 skill to use clips of any capacity, identical to the Heavy Weapon skill.
NOTE: This Bestow has no stated duration. It will last until another Bestow occupies the Gear slot.

We should have the skill and procedure up on the site, um, within a day? HELP request if you want to change your build based on this and don't want to hit reset.

That is quite a significant change.

Will this count for Combat Theory for Gimels?

Will there be a version for Combat as a Core Procedure?

That's a good question, since it's not called "Guns IV" and it is refereed to as a combat skill, ether way I welcome perks like this becoming high level skills instead.

Thank you for the clarification, wanted to make sure I was reading that correctly, and that it was not counting as Combat for just Gimels.

Just curious, is there a particular reason for the change?

Oh wow, I didn't read that right the first time, thanks for pointing it out Ben! That is a significant downpower to an already less-useful Guns 2. I like the change in general, but am now seeing even less reason than before to ever have just Guns 2.

Wendy, automatic weapons are just that, automatic. Heavy weapons are just guns with a base capacity larger than 6, and guns 3 using large volume clips/drums.

Yes, correct. Guns III should allow you to use all approved weapons, with a clip/loading capacity of 6 or smaller. Guncomm keeps an updated list of what weapons are approved, as well as what category (Guns 1, Guns 2, Guns 3) each weapon falls into.

If you would like to use a weapon with a clip size greater than 6, or a weapon that holds more than 6 shots before being reloaded, Heavy Weapons is required.

So if I understand you correctly, this means using a Firefly (8 shots, single reload) used to require Guns 2 (50 CP), but now requires Guns 3 and the Heavy Weapons Skill (120 CP). Or Guns 3 and having this new Level 3 Procedure applied.

Other examples possible with other weapons.

That is quite a change.

I think they might be referring to six shot clips, multishot reloading was always what separated Guns II and III.

True, but that would make a fairly large number of guns we've been useing as Guns II; Heavy Weapons. Seems like an issue of wording.

Ah, I agree, sorry about the misunderstanding. Though as long as we're on the subject I wanted to ask: must heavy weapons still be made or can they be non-device guns in FI2?

Gunswank has heard your concerns. We will look into it and get back to you.
Think of heavy weapons less as a catagory of guns and more as modification to how you can load them. Putting a larger magazine in a guns 3 gun does not make it into another gun so i can see no reason as to why you would need to make it a device.

So, the hotly discussed internal ammo capacity limit was discussed, and it was merely a case of mis-communication between Guncomm and Rulecomm. (or Gunswank and Ruleswank, or whatever title you wish to use).

The inclusion of firearms with built in ammo storage was incorrect. Heavy Weapons only includes clips, chains, etc.

I hope the gun bunnies in the community will forgive me, I was the sorry fool who misunderstood the discussion between our committees and wrote the skill description that threatened to unravel the balance of power.

GunsComm should be releasing their revised guidelines for Gun levels, which will have a few tweaks from what you've seen before, I think.

Steph, what procedure will be replacing the level 2 spot in the core procedures since reload drum mag is removed.

Im talking level 2 not the new level 3 you added. there are only 3 procedures to choose from....

Ah, Physics?

Here is the new procedure:

LEVEL 2
Stun Grenade
Call: Physics, Burst Knockdown
Preparation materials: Refined Earth, Base Metal
Description: You build a grenade that momentarily disorients, but leaves no lasting damage.

Pop in a HELP request if you want to swap an existing L2 Physics Procedure for this one.

Combat has also lost the level two reload drum mag procedure, is something else going to take that slot as well? It is probably not necessary as there are 5 other combat procedures at level 2, but I thought I would ask.
