Megas Return!

Seriously, megas were a common standard for a while back in the day, I'm curious about the compatibility with the old megas. Also interested to see how possible it is to step down the new mega guns to minis.

well, looking at the size of the clip for the Megas I don't think it will be a possibility.

It's almost like looking at the difference between a .223 round and a 50 cal

Aside from the issues a new size ammo causes us, just how heavy will this thing hit point blank? Fine, its just a nerf dart, but I'm not likeing the idea of getting shot in the eye with it at 10 feet or less.

Given the damage that a normal dart can do to the eye from any range, let alone at point blank, I can't imagine that these would be FI legal at all unless we were to have an eye protection mandate.

I'm not convinced they're any more dangerous - they have significantly more cushion on the squash head than the minis, and a wider surface area providing less pressure through better force dispersion. Plus, with a wider head, they're less likely to actually hit the eye directly as you lose area of direct hit around the edge. Eye hits suck either way, but I'm not going to run off and claim 'more dangerous' without someone actually getting their hands on one first.

Given the potential lawsuit threat from accidental injury, my guess is the math comes out to 'just about exactly the same' as the minis, with flight advantages for more mass compensated by larger squash head and surface area. Really, nerf isn't dumb with this stuff, and they're not coming anywhere close to what's really possible. You want scary? I'll bring a my nightfinder and sm5k around next time. There's a reason I don't normally.

Good point.. They probobly do some sort of force of impact testing. We will just have to see I guess.
