One Shot Tech

This may have been answered at one time, but can you one shot a tech skill?

What do you define as a Tech skill? If you are asking whether or not you can one-shot a Technician or Engineering skill, the answer is that you cannot. For that matter, you cannot one-shot a Gather skill, either.

Not to pick, but according to the rulebook you can one shot any non-exclusive skill.

page 13,

"One Shot Skills
Any Non-Exclusive Skill can be purchased using Universal Points (UP) for 20% of the skills normal cost to you. For example if a Dalet wanted to ―one shot‖ Backstab they would pay 4 UP and have one use of the skill at the event. Also, if that same Dalet wanted to purchase Slay (Melee) that would cost him 18 UP. These One Shot Skills do not count against your character point cap. You may only spend 50 UP on One Shot Skills per event."

If the rulebook is wrong you should probobly put up a Rules Addendum section on the website and include all these little typos and mistakes.

The previous clarification was put in a rules addendum a while back, one which must have gotten lost back when we transferred ownership.

Just to be clear, you cannot take Technician, Engineer or Gather skills as one-shot-skills.

I seem to recall there's something also about how you can take Genius, but you can't learn higher level procedures than you could without them.

One-shots never count for the purposes of anything pre-req-like, including being able to learn high-level procedures, etc.

This is true. You cannot use one-shot skills to fulfill any prerequisites for any other advancement.

I assume there should be other restrictions? If you cant one shot technician you should not be able to one shot a perk to make a device cheeper, or one shot pure genius to get a mid season research?

In general, we don't allow one-shot skills that require any upkeep on our end. Examples of this include Pure Genius, Pure Engineer, Pure Technician, Technician, Engineer, Gather Skills. Any others that cause us to have to do something outside of simply adding it to your character sheet will get added to this list.
