Greetings,

Due to the Pan Mass Challenge stopping in Sturbridge, MA on Friday, August 3, there are no rooms available at the Sturbridge Host Hotel that evening. We're considering renting some cabins at Ye Olde Commons, then head over to the hotel early Saturday morning.

There's been lots of talk of having a poker tournament for FI people, but events have so far not worked out. Would you all be interested in a pre-event meet-and-greet on Friday, August 3, at the Ye Olde Commons tavern? If you are interested in such a thing, regardless of whether you play poker or not, please let us know. There is one catch, though. To rent the hall, we'd have to pay at least 300 dollars to rent the space. Can we get that kind of money together? Would you pitch in 10-20 dollars to rent the hall? Inquiring minds want to know!

Make it a semi in-character roleplay event and I'm sure all of us FI junkies would pay 20 bucks a head to be there hanging out in character, whether to play Poker or not.

I think that sounds like a ton of fun.

Um..... I'm not sure *I* can make it Friday night. I am going to TRY and juggle my work schedule, but usually for a one-day I work Friday overnight, sneak in and out early, sleep for 3-4 hours, then drive to Sturbridge.

I am happy as hell to lend my gear to you guys, if you can figure out how to get it there. IF I can somehow swing a schedule change (vacation days and personal time are in short supply given my mother's death and follow up memorial service, and the likely need for at least one more trip down, plus the need to take at least 2 Fridays off for Fall 1 & 2)

If you end up not going (which would be sad), let Zach and I know and we can help out with the tables. We live in Atkinson NH, which I am pretty sure is not that far from you.

If this is is a certainty, I will try hard to get my schedule changed.

I'd love to do a hangout and play poker/watch amazingly terrible movies. Also, I have a small poker set that I could bring for a smaller table. Would a potluck make sense for this?

On a related note, I was just saying at the last event that we should resurrect the concept of Winter/Summer Feast. It would be a great way to get some folks together for an OOG event that supports FI. Combine it with a fundlazer and you've got one heck of a night.

I got a single poker set and a small 4-5 person table top i can bring if needed.

I also have a poker set, it's kind of a medium, easily supply a 7 person game with smaller stacks, or a 5/6 with pretty large stacks.

Oh come on Chris, the cards were all in Jane's favor, not just the 9's.

The 9's were VERY fond of Jane "One out" Bixby.....

Im not a huge fan of poker, but I'd be down even for just the hangout!
